About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

If I depart from Bali then have a 5 hour layover in Xiamen and then a 28 hour layover in Qingdao and then return home to los angeles am I eligible for this? (a 3 leg flight) Technically I would not need to apply for the visa in Xiamen, only in Qingdao correct?

Technically you need a tourist or transit visa for this trip as your stop in China is over 24h so you're not eligible for the 24h twov.

As you have 2 stops in mainland, your transit time is limited to 24h.
As you're longer as 24h in China, you have to apply for a tourist visa.
If you wanna use the 144h twov you either just stop in Xiamen or Qingdao, but not in both cities.
