Am I still qualified if they do a layover in another city

They cancelled my original flight (Melbourne to Shanghai) and changed it to Melbourne-Beijing-Shanghai. Am I still qualified for the 72 hour twov if I’m just doing a 3 hour layover in Beijing? I’m headed to Paris afterwards.

The stop in Beijing limits you to 24 hours transit without visa. You must contact the airline for rebooking if you want to stay more than 24 hours in China.
