About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hong Kong layover

Hello, I am a UK citizen. I have a Hong Kong-Beijing flight, stay in Beijing for 72 hours (hopefully), and then a Beijing-London flight. However, both flights are on Cathay Pacific, and the Beijing-London flight stops in Hong Kong for two hours. Will I qualify for the 72-hour twov? My flights are HK - Beijing - HK/London. Thank you.

You need a visa. You don't qualify for transit without visa because you are returning to Hong Kong.

Thank you. This is true even though it is only a connection in HK en route to London? (I will not be entering HK through immigration, just staying in the airport waiting for the connection.)

Yes, this is true. You must get a visa or you must change your flights.
