About:China Visa

we are going manila phillipines via china air, layover 24hrs at shanghai pudong,

we are going manila phillipines from canada via china air, with Philippines passport, layover 24hrs at shanghai pudong, what do we do upon arriving at the terminal? we plan to spend time at the hotel inside airport. do we need to pass by custom immigration? or just go to the boarding gate the next day?
