About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

I, a German will travel from Germany to Beijing,

will stay there for 5 days to continue my journey to Hong Kong. Will this qualify me for the 144 hour free visa? There have been some information about a new law in 2019 which says something about having to register online before. Does anyone have heard of this law?

I don't know what new law is being referred to. Is this due to that story of a blogger who was recently denied for failing to register at Police station when staying at a private residence and who may or may not have been working illegally in the past? That's not a new law. If you stay at Hotel that is not a problem as they register you.
