Auckland ->Guangzhou -> Shanghai - Moscow

Hi
My flight is NZ -> Guangzhou -> Shanghai using China Southern, stopover in Guangzhou for 2 hours.
I then plan to stay in Shanghai for 5 days (using the 144hr twov), before leaving to Moscow using a different airline.

Can I still use the 144hr twov in Shanghai, given that my first stop in China is actually in Guangzhou. Do I need to go through immigration when landing in Guangzhou, ie. going from International to Domestic terminal?

Thanks for your help

Due to the Guangzhou landing, you will not be eligible for the 144 hour transit. It limits you to 24 hour direct transit. You don't get to choose where you clear immigration. Guangzhou to Shanghai is a domestic flight
