About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Cruise Shanghai-Beijing

On Saturday, fly into Shanghai, get on the ship and start cruise to Beijing. Reach Beijing on Tuesday. Ship stays overnight in Port. Leave Beijing and China on Wednesday. What kind of visa do I need?

You will need to apply in advance for a tourist (L) visa. Good news in US Passport you can apply for the 10 year multiple entry visa. it cost the same as a single entry. Though if you mean Saturday as in Tomorrow, you don't have enough time. It takes a couple weeks to get the visa.
