About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

8 hours stopover in Guangzhou

Hi,

we are from New Zealand and Germany and on our way we have a stopover in Guangzhou (CAN) for 8 hours and we would like to leave the airport and explore China for a bit. Am I correct, that we won't need a 72 hours twov as we can claim the 24-hour free entry permit at arrival in Guangzhou? Is there anything we can do to speed up the process so we won't waste too much time? Thanks in advance!

24 & 72 are both visa free transit. Neither of them are visas. You are correct though. Stops under 24 hours can only get the 24 hour visa free transit.

Thanks Paul for your answer. But with the 24 hours visa permit we are allowed to leave the airport? Cheers

You will get 24 hours transit without visa. Where you are also granted a temporary entry permit to leave the airport is up to the immigration officer. Because you can make a simple international-international connection at CAN without entering China it's possible that you could be refused entry.
