About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

SFO - Beijing - Xiamen - Hong Kong - Sydney

I am spending less than 48 hrs in Xiamen on my way to Australia from the US. However, my first port of entry into China is Beijing.
Do I still qualify for the 72hr twov?

You are limited to one landing in China for the 72 hour transit. Since this is 2 landings, its limited to 24 hour direct transit. 48 hours requires a tourist visa (L) in advance
