is there any visa/other requirement to transit to another country

I will depart Atlanta, GA, on 21 May, and arrive in Shanghai (PVG) on 22 May.  I will arrive at 7:10 PM.  From there I will depart at 9:15 PM and arrive in Beijng (PEK) at 11:50 PM on the same day.  At 2:15 AM on 23 May (which is 2 hours and 25 minutes from arrival at PEK), I will catch a flight going to Kuala Lampur.  My question is this:  Do I need to do anything special (visa wise) upon arrival in PVG or PEK?  Or can I just transit through the airport to catch my next flight without any problems? That's under 24 hours so you should not need a visa. You do have to clear immigration and customs as your Shanghai-Beijing flight is domestic.
