Do I need both the 144 hour free transit and 72 hour transit for my trip to China

I have a round trip ticket to China for approximately 7 days. on my 4th day in China, I will leave for Hong Kong for three days and then return to China for 1 day and return to the US. US - BEK - HK - BEK - US.

I have purchased a separate ticket for China to Hong Kong and back to China. Will I be able to obtain a 144 hour free transit upon arrival in China and then obtain a 72 hour free transit upon my return to China after visiting Hong Kong?
