About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Sydney > Hong Kong > Shanghai > Hong Kong

Do I need a visa if I travel from Hong Kong and stay in Shanghai for 3 days then go back to Hong Kong before my next country?

Hong Kong > Shanghai > Hong Kong is not a transit, so you need to apply for a visa for that.
