About:Shanghai Travel

My friend is Australian. He will fly from Vietnam to Shanghai.

He will get the 144h visa free transit as arrived.
After 5 days, he will fly from there to Hong kong by Hongkong airlines.
After he immigrates to Hongkong, he will take the flight from Hongkong to Vietnam.
From Shanghai to Hongkong and Hongkong to Vietnam by different airlines (separate tickets, not transit ticket).
Is this fine?
