are we eligiable for 144h visa free transit if we embark cruise ship in shanghai?

My family and I (Latvian citizens) we have flight from Riga(Latvia) to Shanghai! On the same day we land we straight from Shanghai airport go to port (cruise terminal) to join the cruise ship and start our cruise. Ship is leaving next day to Japan! Can we get 144h twov at Shanghai airport in this case or we need visa?

If your schedule time in China is less than 24 hours they will only give you the 24 hour transit. If your scheduled stop in china is over 24 hours and as long as no other Chinese ports between Shanghai area and Japan then they will give the full 144 hour transit
