Stopover Shanghai

I am going Japan - Shanghai - USA... I just read, "Airlines in Japan will deny you boarding for onward flights to China if your passport does not have a valid Chinese visa."

Is this true?! Can I get them to let me board the plane with the proof of the 144 hour free transit info?! HELP! :(

Hi, I think you are able to get the 144h twov in Shanghai in your trip. Just tell them that you want to use the free transit in Shanghai without visa.
