About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

do we apply for a 48 hour free visa at both ports, or the 144 hour visa to cover both ports?

Arriving in Shanghai by cruise February 22nd and leaving February 23rd for Beijing (Tianjin) arriving there February 26th for a two day stay before exiting China,

You do not qualify for 144 hours transit without visa. You must get a visa in advance or change your flights.
