About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

traveling to multiple locations in china

I have USA passport. My route starts from USA to Shanghai (3nights), then Bangkok(3nights) and Fly to Phuket (3nights), and finally fly to Hong kong for (2 nights), which is a Visa free zone. Would this qualify for the 144 hour free transit policy? I'm afraid custom will see that i'm going to multiple destinations. I would be going to 2 china cities? I'm very concern and don't want to be denied my free transit? I was reading the provided example (Shanghai/Hong kong and it was marked with an "X") Please advise. Thank you!

USA-Shanghai (3 nights)-Bangkok(3 nights)-Phuket-Hong kong will be fine for applying the 144h twov in Shanghai.
