About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

How often am I allowed to get a transit visa?

If my flight is from SFO Nov6-Shanghai Nov7(3 hour layover)-Hong kong (Nov7-11)- Shanghai (Nov11-17), do I need the 24 hour twov for Shanghai Nov 7? Am I eligible to also get the 144 hour twov when I come back to Shanghai on Nov 11-17?

You can have one in each direction, no limit in how long you need to stay in the third country before you can do another transit.
