About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Leave airport within "24 hour Direct Transit"?

I will be traveling from SINGAPORE to NEW CHITOSE (JAPAN) via Shanghai (PUDONG airport). The layover period is about 7hrs. I have the ticket for onward flight and visa documents for Japan as well.

Do I need to apply the transit g?

You can do 24 hour direct transit but its up to immigration if you can leave the airport. Under 8 hours expect to stay inside the airport
