About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

Cruise departing from Tianjin

Hello,
we’ll fly from Düsseldorf via Dubai to Beijing Capital Airport on October, 5th, stay two nights in BJ and then do a cruise departing from International Cruise Home Port Tianjin on October, 7th. The cruise goes to Japan and will not stop in China again.
Does the 144 hours visa free work for us? In most cases, people have connecting flights, but we have a connecting cruise.

My question to Fiona. My route London Beijing direct flight arriving BJ on 15th Sept.
Leave from Tianjin port for Cruise to Japan on 21st Sept.
Return to Tianjin Port on 26th Sept and Fly back on 27th September from Bejing airport to London ( Direct Flight.)
Will 144 Hour transit Visa will be applicable both ways?

Thanks a lot Fiona. Did you travel there recently. Which travel agency you used for Beijing and Great Wall sight seeing tour.
