hello,cruising from shanghai

we are planning to cruise from Shanghai to Asia. Next country stop will be in Japan.We are planning to stay for a couple of days in Shanghai before cruise will begin. Do we need visa to stay in Shanghai?

As long as you don't stop in Japan before Shanghai and no other cruise stops in China until after Japan then you will be eligible for the 144 hour twov.

Hello again,But we are little confused with this visa situation, could you please explain more, so do we need visa to spent a couple of days in Shanghai before cruising. We are flying from San Francisco to Shanghai, and we are not planning to stop anywhere before we will arrive to Shanghai. And our next stop will be in Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, Honk Kong.
