About:144-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

Arriving in Shanghai by plane, leaving by ship, does the 144 hr TWOV apply ? October 2018

We are British citizens with full British Passports, we live in France.
We are flying into SH October 2018, we want to stay in SH for three to four days before embarking on an MSC cruise ship which is booked, we sail to Nagasaki then Japan mainland, could somebody please confirm if the 144 hour transit without visa rule applies.
Kind Regards, Christopher.

Yes, you need to carry your passport, the cruise tickets and the "embarkation/disembarkation card".
