already have round trip ticket usa to shanghai

Question

Have ticket from usa to Shanghai r/t for 12 days. Would like to see Beijing during that 12 days .How can I plan it without entry permit ? Willing to leave China to Philippine or Thailand then return to Beijing for at least 4 days but I need to get back to Shanghai for my return trip to usa . how can I plan that visa free ?

You cant include Beijing and Shanghai on a single TWOV. You will need to plan at least 2 side trips outside of china to get this to work. It will be cheaper just to apply for the 10 year visa. Example of what would work.USA > Shanghai (up to 6 days) > ManilaManila > Beijing (up to 6 days) > Hong KongHong Kong > Shanghai (up to 6 days) > USA
