If you want to apply for family Q type, the required documents include your passport, the application form, a passport-style photo, valid registration form of temporary residence, an invitation letter from your wife and copy of her Chinese ID card, as well as your marriage certificate, and other documents the consular officers consider necessary. Just for reference.

You need to seriously consider whether it is necessary as switching to a family-based residence permit means you will no longer be able to work in China legally.
