On international flight, should I bring my medications in their original bottles?

I will fly to Sri Lanka next month. Could you please tell me that on international flight, should I bring my medications in their original bottles? Do I need to have paper copies of my prescriptions from my doctor?

As far as I know, you need to carry your medications in their original containers just to identify them as legally obtained drugs and pack them in your carry-on bag. You are also advised to take your doctor's prescriptions in case it is needed.
