About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

USA --> Thailand (layover in Beijing) --> Cambodia --> Beijing --> USA

I'm an American traveling from Los Angeles to Thailand with a short (2 hour?) layover in Beijing where I won't leave the airport. Then I'm going to Cambodia. Then I'm going to Beijing where I hope to be eligible for the 144 hour free transit option. Then departing Beijing 72ish hours later for Los Angeles.

Am I eligible?

That is fine. Cambodia > Beijing > USA is allowed under the 144 hour TWOV. where you are before Cambodia does not matter.
