do we need a visa going shanghai

My children and I will be cruisin with Majestic Princess Cruise ship his coming August 2018, our joining port is in Shanghai and there will be seperate days were in the ship will visit Shanghai port as their embarkation port for new passengers and we will be required to go out of the ship for a day only. Do we still need to get entry permit from the Philippines?

Since February, Shanghai no longer allows people with layovers for less than 24 hours to clear immigration regardless of nationality. Some reported that bringing a hotel reservation will help. But the result is at the immigration officer's discretion.You are advised to apply for a visa for that trip beforehand to guarantee that.
