Hi there, I will be going on an exchange to macau from aug 17 onwards until 12 january 2019. I was wondering if I need to have booked a return airline ticket out of the country in advance in order to receive my visa?

Hi, Justin, personally I don't think you need the returned ticket booking for that application. If you doubt that, you can contact the China embassy to confirm that beforehand.
