need help with 144 hr visa free transit

Question

I have read on your website and I am flying out from Dallas, TX to Bangkok, Thailand and on the way I am planning to stop to visit Beijing for 2 nights and planning to enter China with 144-hours visa free transit.  Then I am flying on to Bangkok.  Our return trip will be fly to USA directly from BKK.  However, to make sure I went to AA counter today and asked them in person.  They said they won't let me and my family on the plane due to their system.  Do I need any other document.  I printed out all the information about this particular visa and my ticket to the 3rd country.  Any suggestion? Need help.

I think you have prepared enough documents and there is no problem for you.

American Airline won't issue the boarding pass for us.  I ended up cancel the whole flight.
