Flying out of Montreal, Canada into Shanghai Pudong- stay in from Nov 8 -12 then flying out the 12th to Tokyo. Does the 144 hour twov apply to me? Thanks!!

No, I have a 1 hour layover in Dallas before the 15h flight to Shanghai. The flight from Shanghai to Tokyo is non stop. What do I do in this case?
