Hong Kong- Beijing- Hong Kong-Sydney

I will travelling from Sydney to Hong Kong for work and would like to spend the weekend in Beijing. So if i travel from Hong-Kong to Beijing for 3 days and fly back to Hong Kong to catch my flight back to sydney (same day but seperate tickets) would i need entry permit?

Hong Kong > Beijing > Hong Kong is not a transit thus a visa will be required. If you can take boat to Macau and leave from there instead then you could use TWOV.
