About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Kuala Lumpur - Beijing - Chicago

I have a ticket on Malaysia Air from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing and a separate ticket from Beijing to Chicago on United, both tickets booked separately. I will have two nights in Beijing. Am I allowed to use the 72hr waiver or should I apply for a visa?
