About:China Visa Application in USA

Live in Houston, Texas going on Viking Cruise to China

Bit confused, which consulate office do we submit paperwork to for requesting VISA. I am assuming that we can do everything by mail since no consulate here anymore. Besides a VISA form application with photos attached and payment, am I missing anything else that might be required?

You need to apply for a China visa in Chinese embassy in Washington D.C. I'm afraid it is not possible to use e-mail and you need to go to the embassy directly. It is better to

You also need a Proof of Residence (e.g. , driver’s license, utility bill, bank bill); Where You Stay Form ( handwritten signature required). All the documents can be found on the official website of China Embassy.

Hi Karla, We live in Dallas and are going on a China Viking cruise in October. It appears the only way to get your Visa is in person at the embassy in DC or use a visa service like Genvisa located in DC which is what Viking recommend. You complete the application on line then send a printed copy to GenVisa along with 2 passport photos, copy of your bio page from your passport, your actual passport, residency single page form, copy of driving liscense.

Thanks Nick! What cruise are you going on, we're on Classic China October 10-24, Hong Kong 4 days after! We had a Chinese embassy in Houston until last year, drats, so I have found several authorized companies in Houston that I can at least go to their office and bring documents, etc. Do you mind telling me what Genvisa cost to process? And length of time to get the documents? Thanks in advance...happy sailing, should we be on the same cruise we will look forward to toasting in their great lounge!!
