About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

British citizen residing in Singapore

Hi, a British citizen residing in Singapore has to travel to Shanghai - short business trip (from 2 July to 3rd) -, has an invitation letter but no time to actually apply for the Chinese visa. Is he eligible for a 72-hour free transit? And can the return flight be directly back to Singapore? What would be the process, please? Thanks! Ana

Singapore > Shanghai > Singapore is not eligible for the transit without visa. I different routing would be needed. for example fly Singapore > Hong Kong > Shanghai > Singapore. Country immediately before and after shanghai cannot be the same country.
