About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I need a visa to transit in Pudong Shanghai?

Hello. I have a question regarding transit in Pudong airport, Shanghai.
My name is Christy and I am Indonesian. I will go to Indonesia from Busan, South Korea. During the flight, i will transit to Pudong, Shanghai about 24hours. I've read some articles state that I don't need any visa to transit but it means i have to stay in the airport while waiting. But i need to go outside the airport for sightseeing, etc. and after that i back to airport again and take my flight back to Indonesia. So, do i need to get a transit G?
Thank you in advance.

Leaving the airport without a visa for a layover under 24 hours is at the immigration officer's discretion. You are advised to apply for a visa to guarantee your departure from Shanghai airport.
