About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

My route will be US-Vietnam-Beijing-Vietnam-US. Does this route work for the 144hr free transit?

FYI, my Vietnam-Beijing-Vietnam ticket is separate from the US portion--if that makes a difference.

It does not work for 144 hour transit without visa because you’re not in transit. You need a visa.

This is a trip to Beijing not a transit. It doesn't matter how you structure your ticket(s). What matters is where you physically are before and after arriving at a city in China.

p.s. Its a visa waiver program not a 144 hour visa.
