About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

U.S. citizen to Japan

I'm flying from the U.S. to Tokyo on Nov 17. The flight has a 16 hours layover in Beijing. Can I use the free 72h free transit in Beijing? Do I have to apply for a visa ahead of time?
