About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit Visa with Turkish Passport

Hello!

I am a Turkish citizen and will have an 18-hour transit at Shanghai airport. I applied for the China Transit Visa and satisfied all the requirements. My application has still been denied because "Turkish citizens can only enter China through invitation".

I find this hard to believe and cannot find any information supporting this claim. Does anyone know if this is indeed the case? Should I go back and apply again?

Thank you so much

There's no mechanism to appeal and Turks have been under strict scrutiny since around 2014, so it's nothing new. Same thing goes for people with Turkish stamps in their passports. Timatic did not mention any restriction for Turks transiting in Shanghai so you can still travel, just cannot leave the airport.
