Question

With this new regulation if Im flying into Beijing doing 3 nights then getting on a cruise in Tianjin that stops in Hong Kong a week later is this ok?Also who is the best contact to go to to get official confirmations on these sort of things and check rule changes as trip isnt until next October?

Transit without visa really isn't new. It's been available for several years. Whether you are eligible depends on your exact route (in particular, your stops immediately before and immediately after Beijing) and your passport. But you are certainly wise to check for rule changes nearer the time of travel. The best source is Timatic, an IATA database available from several websites, because your airline will follow this before allowing you to board your flight to Beijing.
