American 10-Year L Visa Validity

Hello,

I am an American citizen and was granted a 10-year tourist L in January of 2016. Since August 2016, I have been working in China on a Z (residence permit). My current residence permit is set to expire soon, and I will not be continuing my job in China.

However, I'm curious as to whether or not my 10-year L is still valid for future tourism trips to China. I can see that my 10-year L is supposedly valid through January 2026, and there is no visible evidence that it has been cancelled. Is it safe to assume that I can re-enter China in the future on my existing L, or is it likely to have been cancelled when I was issued a Z?

Thanks very much,

Hi, your 10 year L type is voided automatically once you got the work Z type. So if you want to enter mainland China again, you need to apply for a new visa beforehand.
