Do I qualify for Visa Free travel

Hi, I'm planning to visit my girlfriend in Guangzhou on April 19, 2025 coming from the US and departing Guangzhou on April 26, 2025. Do I need a visa? What if I have a stopover in Taipei for a few hours before heading to Guangzhou? Do I qualify for visa-free transit visa?

If you head to countries or regions (HK, Macau) except the US from Guangzhou, you can enjoy the 240h visa free transit policy, and it also works after you transit in Taipei; if you travel back to the US when you finish your China travel, which means that you have a round trip between US – Mainland China, I’m afraid you will be required a visa. In short, your route should be country/region A- Chinese mainland - country/region B, which is an eligible route for 240-hour visa-free transit. In the case, HK, Macau and Taiwan can be used as different regions from Chinese mainland.
