Guangzhou: is it easy/possible to get 24/72-hour visa on arrival?

Travelling from the UK or Australia, is it easy/possible to get a 24- or 72-hour visa on arrival at Guangzhou airport? Or, is it necessary to tell the airline when you check-in? Or, do you have to arrange it earlier than that? Thx, John

I’m a little confused about your route, if you mean: UK-Guangzhou-Australia, then you can enjoy the visa free transit policy.
Don’t worry! It’s easy to get that, and you need to tell the airline when boarding the plane to Guangzhou.

Thanks. Yes, travelling either way - transiting in Guangzhou. Strangely, China Southern staff don't seem to be aware of any visa policies on the phone - hope they will on the plane :)
