About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Does a transit visa also counts to the 90 days allowd in the country with business M

I travel frequently to China for business reasons.
This time I will do a transit in Shanghai for 3 days. (coming from Korea, continuing to Netherlands)
Will these 3 days also count for the max. 90 days you are allowed in china / year on business M?

Thomas, you can enjoy Shanghai 144 hr free transit in this trip. When you board the aircraft in Korea, you should tell the airline that you want to use the free transit in Shanghai, then you can apply for it at the immigration inspection counter upon arrival. In this case, you can save the M type for your next trip in mainland China, and the 3 days won't be counted.

Thank you for your answer, but I think you did not understand my question fully.
In total you are allowed 90 days on M.
Will the 144hrs free transit, add to this count?
I am currently on 70 days M, I will use the 144hrs for my 3 day transit.
will my count remain at 70? or will it become 73?

Thank you in advance!

They won't be add together. You can use them separately. If you want to use the 144 hr free transit, you need to leave mainland China before the 144 hr expires. Otherwise, you would be considered overstaying in China. After you use the 144 hr policy, you can still use the M type with 90 days duration when you re-enter the country. Hope it can help this time.
