About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

cruise transit

Hello. Traveling from US arriving into HONG KONG for a cruise. Will visit 2 ports in Japan before arriving to Beijing Cruise terminal, then flying back to USA from Beijing. Do I need a Chinese visa or will Japan - Beijing - USA count as a free transit.
