Train from HongKong to Guangzhou

Can I use the 72 hour visa if I fly to HongKong and then take the train to Guangzhou?

Would just spend 3 nights in Guangzhou

There is no 72 hour visa, only 72 hour transit without visa, which won't apply to your itinerary. You will need to get a visa.
