luggage retrieval

Question

I am flying air china from montreal to beijing for three hours stop. Then I will fly to Xi'an in the same airline. Do I need to retrieve my luggage at baggage claim?

If you hold the connecting flight ticket for this Montreal--Beijing--Xian trip, the luggage should be able to be arranged to Xian directly. To be safe, you can confirm it with the air china again.
