About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

From USA

Flying from USA to Hong Kong then Hong Kong to Shanghai then Shanghai to Hong Kong then Hong Kong to USA. Will this work for the 72 hours free transit?

Of course not. Hong Kong-Shanghai-Hong Kong isn't a transit. You need a visa for that.
