About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 Hours - Will this apply?

I am flying into Shanghai (staying there 4 nights), then boarding a cruise to Japan for 7 nights returning to Shanghai. Upon arriving in Shanghai will board a plane to Osaka. Do I need to apply for a visitors visa?

Hi, if your travel route would be Japan-Shanghai-Japan, you won't qualify for 144 hr free transit in Shanghai because the trip is not a transit at all.
