Hi i am holding Indonesia pasport

Hi, i am travelling from japan to Indonesia, via Shanghai, transit for 5.30 hours. The airline said I need to pick up my luggage and check in again.
Do i need a visa for that?

You don't need it because you qualify for 24 hr direct transit in Shanghai.
