Question: Traveling to Japan with stopover in Beijing
I am a citizen of The Netherlands.
In July I would like to travel to Japan with a stopover of 2 days in Beijing and then travel on to Japan. I have the following itinerary (it will be on 1 travel schedule):
- departure AMSTERDAM -> arrival BEIJING (flight with KLM)
- departure BEIJING -> arrival OSAKA (flight with AIR CHINA or CHINA EASTERN)
- departure Tokyo -> arrival AMSTERDAM (flight with KLM)
- Will I be allowed to make use of the 72-Hour Visa-Free Transit?
FURTHERMORE - in December 2016 I tried to make a 3-day (less than 72 hours) stopover in Beijing on my way to Bangkok, Thailand. Unfortunately my ticket showed that I would reach Bangkok from Beijing but that there first would be a stop in Guangzhou (China); so it said Beijing -> Guangzhou --> Bangkok. I was not allowed to enter China and I had to buy a direct ticket from Beijing to Bangkok. This flight left the next day so I had to sleep at Beijing airport. Until my flight left, my passport was confiscated by the Chinese authorities, but there was nothing officially recorded in my passport. I was also not informed that I was not allowed to enter China in the future.
- Is this a problem to be allowed to make use of the 72-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Beijing this time around in July 2018?
Thank you in advance for your reply.
